The Backstory Behind this Easter and Spring Tablescape Idea

I was asked to host a special luncheon for the one and only Donny Osmond!

His daughter-in-law, Melissa Osmond, who is a friend of mine, reached out to me and said that Donny and his team wanted to announce his new show in Las Vegas and asked if I would host the luncheon in my home!

I, of course, said YES! I mean, who wouldn’t love an opportunity to have Donny Osmond come to their home!

It was an amazing experience, and I have to tell you, Donny is one of the most gracious and kind people. He does not act like he is famous in any way and is so down-to-earth and genuinely nice.

He took time to speak with all of the guests that were invited and spoke at length with my husband and children! He even remembered my kids’ names and that my two sons were both in the military. The cutest part by far was when he sang Puppy Love to my little Bernedoodles. I shared that on my Instagram a while back if you want to see it.

Donny’s show in Las Vegas is now in its third season and going strong. A few months after he came to my home for the luncheon, all the ladies who were at the luncheon went to Las Vegas to see the show, and it was amazing!

I will never forget how fun it was, and we all got to hang out with Donny after the show. He especially loved the purple hair filter I used in my Instagram stories since he was obsessed with purple when he was a teenage heartthrob. Who remembers that? I guess I’m dating myself here!

Okay, now that you know the backstory, here are the details on how I created this mint green and white Easter and Spring Tablescape!

Place-Setting Perfection

Let’s start with the foundation of the table-setting.

I opted for a charming crocheted doily for the placemat, adding a touch of vintage flair.

On top of that, a white wooden charger sets the stage for the rest of the place-setting.

For the dinnerware, I kept it classic with mint green solid dinner plates and these cute salad plates adorned with an adorable white Easter bunny pattern.

To complete the ensemble, a scalloped bowl adds just the right amount of texture and sophistication.

I used this table for both the Donny Osmond Luncheon and for Easter.

At the heart of the table, a lush garland of winter greens intertwines with delicate white and pink florals, adding a touch of seasonal charm. The garland serves as a natural runner, perfectly framing the Herbariae dinnerware and tying the whole look together.

Adding the Finishing Touches to this Pink, Black, and White Tablescape

No tablescape is complete without thoughtful details. Tall, slender candlesticks cast a warm glow, while sleek flatware, also from Vista Alegre, adds a modern touch. For the napkins, I’ve opted for a playful twist by layering two linen napkins together for extra fluffiness and then I used black and white striped ribbon in lieu of traditional napkin rings. Layering a black and white napkin adds a touch of whimsy to each place setting.

I always add candlesticks and taper candles when I can to a tablescape. The ones I used were extra tall and I placed three at each end of the table. I absolutely love the ambiance candles add to any table once they are lit.

The Focal Point: Centerpiece Garland

Let’s start with the focal point: I used a table runner and layered the centerpiece garland on top of it. Then I made the garland using frosted pines, frosted peonies and eucalyptus. This is one of my favorite ways to make a garland for the winter season, and then add in different items that work for the different holidays in the winter season. The Table-Setting:

I love to create layers in my place settings. For this particular tablescape, I used a red heart placemat, a red beaded dinner plate, a white scalloped salad plate, and a pink beaded heart dessert plate. I also added some homemade Valentine’s cookies to the top of the dessert plate. I then added a red and white checkered napkin under the white plate to create some contrast.

Next, I added some pink hearts to some gold placecard holders, gold flatware and clear glass goblets.

To add some more romantic vibes to the tables, I used mango wood candleholders with red candlesticks and some white “love” words at the end of each table. (The LOVE words are from Hobby Lobby.)

With the warmer days of spring and summer soon upon us, it’s the perfect time to gather family and friends together. One way to make your gatherings even more memorable is by setting a beautiful spring or summer tablescape with anemone flowers from your garden or a local flower farm. I love growing my own flowers and using them in my centerpieces for my tablescapes and when there is a flower that I want to use and don’t have, I reach out to my flower farmer friends.

My friend Amy Brown and her husband Steve, own Laughing Goat Flower Farm in Enumclaw, Washington which is not far from my Ravensdale home. She grows beautiful flowers and we have become good friends over the years sharing our love of flowers, good food, and setting a beautiful table.

I received these dishes as a gift from a brand called Bico Ceramics and when I saw the anemone flowers on the dishes, I called Amy and sure enough, she had these beautiful anemone flowers.

I visited her at the farm and then put them in a vase and carried them onto the plane with me and took them back to our Utah home! This is not uncommon for me to do since I have two homes and go back and forth between them.

In my defense, a lot of people visit the famous Pike Place Market in Seattle which is famous for its fish and beautiful flower bouquets. It’s not uncommon to see visitors carrying these flower bouquets onto the airplane so no one looked at me strangely thank goodness! HaHa!

I also bought some other flowers and greenery from a local floral shop to go with the anemone flowers I brought back from Washington.

In this post I’m going to share all the beautiful details with you on how I created this tablescape full of one of my favorite flowers, Anemone Flowers!

Step 1: Choose Your Color Palette

Start by selecting a color palette. The purple and white anemone dishes were the initial inspiration for this color palette and then of course, the anemone flowers were also inspiration for this tablescape.

Step 2: Gather Tableware and Linens

To complement the color scheme, choose tableware and linens that showcase the chosen colors. I love to layer my plates on top of a charger and placemat.

In this tablescape, I used the Bico Ceramics dinnerware, a woven hyacinth placemat, silver flatware, clear water goblets, silver rimmed wine glasses, and green ruffled napkins with a wooden napkin ring.

Step 3: Create a Beautiful Centerpiece with Anemone Flowers

The anemone centerpiece is the focal point of the table.

Step 4: Add Subtle Accents

Enhance the beauty of the tablescape by incorporating subtle accents such as bud vases with the remaining flowers left from making the centerpiece. You can also add candles!

Step 5: Embrace Natural Elements

Embrace the spring or summer season by incorporating natural elements into your tablescape. I used a mix of greenery in the centerpiece and a few other purple and white flowers to fill in the rest of the arrangement. I also mixed in some natural wood elements into the tablescape with the placemats, wood napkin rings, and wood candle holders.

Step 6: Play with Heights

Varying the heights of your decor elements adds visual interest to the tablescape. Use candle holders or small stands to elevate some of the floral arrangements. This helps create an inviting table.

Step 7: Personalized Place Settings

For a thoughtful touch, consider personalized place cards for each guest. You can write their names on small cards and tuck them into the napkins or attach them to unique placeholders. I didn’t use any place cards on this tablescape because this was an informal dinner for our immediate family but I love to add them when it’s more formal and a larger group.

Step 8: Candles

Candles create a warm ambiance to any dinner table. Add in some candlesticks with taper candles if you like. I love doing this any time of year and any time of day! If you’re hosting dinner outside, candles also help with lighting as the sun sets!

With the right color palette, beautiful anemone flowers, and a dash of creativity, you can create a stunning purple and white spring or summer tablescape that will leave a lasting impression on your guests.

A well-chosen table runner serves as the foundation for your tablescape, instantly transforming an ordinary table into a visual masterpiece. I used this white and natural table runner from Solino Home. The collection I used in this tablescape is called Contempo and it comes in many colors.

The white and natural colors are simple, yet elegant and worked well with my rustic reclaimed wood dining table.

Linen Napkins for a Touch of Refinement

In this tablescape, I used wooden napkin rings for the linen napkins. To create this look, just unfold the napkin (I ironed them first), pinch the middle of the napkin with your fingers and let the napkin hand downward. Then slide the napkin ring over the pinched section and pull the napkin through the napkin ring. Fluff it up a bit if needed. You can lay the napkin on the left side of the place-setting with the napkin pointing up or down. I like doing it both ways. You can also put the napkin on top of the plate if you want to shake things up. There are so many different ways to style napkins and ways to place them.

Coordinated Placemats

I was so grateful as I was running short on time. Shannon is one of the kindest, most genuine people I know and she is an amazing flower farm and florist. These centerpieces she made are so beautiful!

Cherry Blossom Themed Pink Tablescape

Cherry blossoms are one of the most beautiful and iconic symbols of spring. With their delicate pink petals, they are a favorite among flower lovers and designers alike. So why not bring this stunning floral display to your table with a cherry blossom themed pink tablescape? I’m sharing all the details of this cherry blossom themed pink tablescape in this post.

Choose a color scheme with shades of pink.

To start, choose a color scheme that incorporates shades of pink, white, and green to mimic the colors of cherry blossoms. Begin by covering your table with a light pink tablecloth or runner. This will serve as the foundation for your tablescape.

Add layers of texture and dimension.

Next, add layers of texture and dimension to your table. Use neutral place mats and white or light pink dinner plates as your base, then layer on pink salad plates to add interest and variety. I love these scalloped plates that I paired with some a larger sized pink dinner plate. It’s always fun to mix and match dinnerware.

I used rustic flatware and clear bee goblets for the water glasses. One of my favorite details to add to a table is adding mini salt and pepper shakers. I used my rose gold set and added pink himilayan sea salt to the salt shakers.

Add in cherry blossom accents.

Now for the cherry blossom accents. Use faux cherry blossom branches as the main flower to create a dramatic centerpiece. Arrange them in a vase or planter and mix in other pink flowers for contrast. In these two centerpiece arrangements, I used faux cherry blossoms, pink dogwood, real-touch pink roses, and pink peonies.

Add in the little details to complete the theme.

Finally, complete your tablescape with small details that tie the theme together. Use pink napkins, place cards, or menu cards to add a personalized touch to each setting if you have the time.

Another detail I added to complete the theme is the cherry blossom vases I used for the centerpieces. I used a tape grid across the top of the vase to create a support structure to support the faux florals and then arranged them in the vases. I added some pink candles and rustic wood candle holders at each end of the table. Don’t forget to light the candles when dinner is served!

Can you use faux cherry blossoms?

If you’ve followed along here for a while, you’ve probably picked up on the fact that I love blue! I am always drawn to this color, no matter what the shade. This stunning spring tablescape with chambray blue and white is a favorite of mine! 

Why I Love Blue!

One reason I love blue so much is that it’s calming and serene, but from a decor and design standpoint, it’s one of the most versatile colors in the rainbow.

I set this tablescape for a Sunday family dinner I hosted at my home, and it was the last of my spring tablescapes for the season. The color palette of this chambray blue and white combination carried over into summer perfectly–which brings up another reason why I love blue so much!

Because this was the end of spring and going into summer, I chose these light blue chambray dishes and used blue and white flowers mixed in with faux greenery to create this tablescape.

The Place-Setting

For the place-setting, I used light-colored, woven placemats with the chambray dinnerware and paired it with light blue linen napkins and flower-shaped silver napkin rings.

I can’t believe it’s already Spring and almost Easter! It sure doesn’t feel like spring has arrived yet since it’s still snowing and cold here in Utah. I may have to postpone my annual Easter egg hunt for the grandkids until the snow melts. I did get my table all set for the Easter celebration that I have planned for this holiday weekend. I went with less traditional colors and used this beautiful shade of green mixed with white and hints of gold. I just love this color combination and it works great for Easter as well as spring. If you’ve followed along with me for awhile, you’ll know how much I like to set one table for an entire season that is easy to transform into something that works well for all the holidays within that season.

Pick a seasonal color palette

I pick my “seasonal” color palette or theme and then I make adjustments to my tablescapes and decor to make it useable for whatever holiday falls within that season.

One of the reasons I like green is that it works well for St. Patricks Day, Easter, Mothers Day, and of course spring!

How to Transition Your Table for Each Spring Holiday

Here are some of the ways I transition my tablescapes to work for the holidays within spring:

I used these green lattice bunny-themed salad plates on the top for the Easter table, but I switched them out for a neutral-colored plate for the other holidays.

• Swap out the napkins
• Add in some dessert bowls or Ice cream bowls.
• Add in Easter Bunnies for Easter and then remove them when Easter is over.
• Use placecards for one or more of the table settings.
• Add a tablecloth for one setting and then remove it and just use placemats for the other setting.
• Add dessert bowls that are unique.

The idea is to create a versatile tablescape that can easily be shifted to the other holidays or seasonal decor items.

Spring is full of so many celebrations and there are so many colors one can use for Spring as well. You can also switch a table out completely if you like! I’ve done it both ways!

Setting the Easter Table

I added a water glass and wine goblet to each place-setting and gold flatware.

To finish off the table I used matching salt and pepper shaker sets and added them to each end of the table and lastly I added some wooden candlestick holders and dark green 18″ tapered candles to each end.

You can see how I mixed some of the white washed wooden rustic elements in the tablescape to correspond with the tablecloth and the wood napkin rings also carried that same element over to the wooden candlesticks.

I used dark green tapered candles to pull out the green florals in the tablecloth and napkins and dark green glasses to also add some of the darker shades of green into the table.

I think my favorite item on the table though is the bunny lattice dessert/salad plates. They were the inspiration for the entire table and what influenced me to go with a darker green color for this tablescape.

What will I serve for Easter Dinner?

Everyone always wants to know where I serve the food. I don’t like serving it on this table as it’s reclaimed wood and everything stains it. Something always gets spilled so this just works better for me.

I typically serve buffet style on my large marble island in my kitchen. Sometimes I will serve it on the table (and use a tablecloth), but when I do that, I make smaller centerpieces so there is room for the food.

My Go-To Easter Dinner Recipes

Here are my go to recipes that everyone loves and are family favorites:

• Ham, I will buy a spiral sliced ham from Costco or Sams Club and use that as I like the sweet glazes that come with them.
• Scallopped Potatoes With Fontina Cheese
• My Homemade Rolls or My Braided French Bread Recipe
• Mello-Jello
• And for dessert Aunt Jeannies Chocolate Cake with Ganache Frosting
