How to Mix Valentines Day Decorations into your Winter Decor This past holiday season I decorated our Highland, Utah house with different shades of green and ivory. When I was taking down all the Christmas decorations, I decided to leave up the more neutral decorations that would double as my winter decor. I always enjoy decorating for each season and I think Winter is often overlooked! When I think of Winter colors, I think of green, silver, white, and gold. Now that it's time for Valentines Day, I decided to keep it simple and add in some pink decorations for valentines day. I'm excited to share with you how simple and easy it is to mixing valentines day and winter decor. The Tablescape First and most importantly (at least to me) is the tablescape! If you've followed me for awhile, you'll know how much I love creating a Tablescapes and Valentines is always one of my favorites because I get to use pink! Below is the Winter garland centerpiece I created out
Pink Peony Summertime Tablescape
Pink Peony Summertime Tablescape Who doesn't love farm fresh pink peonies? I was inspired to create this pink peony summertime tablescape after visiting my friend Amy Brown's flower farm. She and her husband Steve, own Laughing Goat Flower Farm located in the beautiful town of Enumclaw, Washington. Enumclaw is a farming town located southeast of Seattle and sits just below the foothills of the Cascade Mountains and majestic Mount Rainier. A Match Made In Heaven Amy and I met last summer at a floral arranging workshop and it was a match made in heaven. We became fast friends and realized we lived near one another. We bonded over our love of flowers and gardening. I love going to visit Amy and Steve at their farm and seeing all the beautiful flowers, vegetables, and of course, the adorable goats, pigs, and the farm dog Sheila. Laughing Goat also grows beyond organic vegetables and both Amy and I love growing and eating our own food. Amy is much better at gardening
Cherry Chip Mini Bundt Cakes
These mini bundt cakes are so easy to make and don't take a lot of time. I made these for Valentines Day and everyone loved them.
For the recipe I took one Cherry Chip cake mix and followed the directions on the box (eggs, water, oil). I then added a small package of vanilla pudding and an extra 1/4 cup water to the mixing bowl and mixed for 1-2 minutes. I baked the cakes in a greased mini bundt pan (I'll link the pan below) and baked them for 10-12 minutes and let them cool on a cooling rack. For the glaze, I mixed 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar and 4-5 Tbsps. of the marchano cherry juice and 1 tsp. almond extract. It should be a little runny. If you don't have the cherry juice from the jar a marchano cherries you can use milk or water instead and add pink food coloring if you want the frosting pink. Put a ziplock bag in a cup and fold the edges over the cup then scoop frosting into the ziplock bag. Snip a tiny amount off thePretty In Pink Valentines Day Tablescape
I created this pretty pink and white Valentines tablescape for a family Valentines Day dinner. We always have Sunday dinner with our family and friends and I enjoy cooking for everyone, This tradition of sharing a meal at least once a week helps keeps our family close. Our children are all in college in Utah and when we are at the Highland house, we always try to get everyone together. I love that my grown children still want to come home and spend time with us.
I often use faux flowers for the garland or centerpiece on my table but when I went to the wholesale flower market and saw these beautiful pink garden roses, I knew I wanted to create a centerpiece with them. They were so beautiful and smelled amazing too! I grabbed a few other bunches of pinkish berries and some greenery to add in with the roses and some fresh eucalyptus to lay inbetween the candles. I used a rose gold compote to arrange the centerpiece in, rose gold candlesticks,
