The Most Beautiful Living Room Decorated for Christmas

‘Tis the season to be jolly, and what better way to embrace the holiday spirit than by adorning your living room with the most beautiful and elegant Christmas decorations? In this blog post, I’ll be sharing my Christmas decor in my living room decorated in shades of light pink and gold. From the flocked Christmas tree adorned with pink and gold accents to the fireplace mantle, I’ll share all the big and little details on how I decked out the halls for this holiday season. Did I mention that my name is Holly and I was due to be born on Christmas day so my parents named me Holly…….and then I married a guy with the last name Jolley! Yep, I’m Holly Jolley! So when I say have a Holly Jolley Christmas, I really mean it, literally!

The Christmas Living Room Color Palette

Today I’m sharing my Christmas living room décor with shades of light pink and gold – an unconventional yet beautiful color scheme that transformed my living room into a sophisticated winter wonderland. Bid farewell to the traditional Christmas colors and see all the details of my holiday living room adorned with delicate hues of pink and gold accents.

I will link as many of the items I used to create this look throughout the post and at the bottom of the post so be sure to scroll down.

My little bernedoodle Copper always loves to pose for my photos on the settee! I wish I could share the source for this but it was discontinued many years ago. It was purchased from Gatehouse in Orem, Utah.

The Living Room Christmas Tree

I absolutely love having a flocked Christmas tree! My husband despises the flocked trees but he always manages to help me put them up even though they make quite a mess! My tree is a 12′ Flocked Long Needle Pine. It comes pre-lit but I’ve learned that the lights rarely work so I add my own lights to the tree.

I always use a lot of ornaments when I decorate my trees and it’s surprising how many a big tree holds! I love adding ribbon throughout the tree and it’s one of my favorite ways to fill in any holes and add more color to the tree. Another way to add color and fill holes is to add berries, flowers, and some type of greenery or branches to the tree. For this tree, I used frosted gold eucalyptus, gold bay leaf sprays and other gold-colored cedar branches as well as weeping snowy pine cone branches.

For the top of the tree, I used some gold feather picks and more gold-frosted eucalyptus.

I always match my wrapping paper to the tree and colors that I decorate with to create a cohesive look. This year I used nesting boxes, gold and white gift boxes as well as pink, gold, and white wrapping paper with lots of ribbon in the same colors. I love how it looks when the presents match the tree. Here are some of my favorite wrapping paper and ribbon to wrap presents with! I also added more at the bottom in the shop my post section.

I used a four-inch wide gold-edged velvet ink ribbon for the tree. I cut long strips of the ribbon and then tied a green floral wire in the center of the ribbon and then wired it into the tree.

I used a variety of blush pink, gold, antiqued gold, bronze, and copper colored ornaments. I loved the variety on the tree. It’s amazing how many ornaments it takes to fill a up a 12′ tree!

The Christmas Living Room Accents

I also added other pink and gold accents to the living room to tie the tree and mantle together which makes it all cohesive. One thing I always love to add to the coffee table and shelves is a flower arrangement. I made this simple one using these Snowy Pink Peonies, Snowy Peony Spray, and Snowy Hydrangeas. I also added some other decorative accents like this gold deer head and a snow globe.

I also love to add in vases that match the decor colors and then I added in some reindeer, pink throw pillows and pink throw blankets. It adds more warmth and coziness to the room. Here’s a few from my shop HollyJHome.com but I added more options down below in the Shop The Post Section.

From the Christmas lights to the holiday cheer, we are all looking to add a little festive feel to get us in the holiday spirit.

When we think about how to setup our holiday decor to bring about a merry Christmas, the typical Christmas decorations, and what you probably did last year, typically happen in the living room, dining room, or front porch.

But, what about creating a winter wonderland in the bedroom? This could be in a guest room, master bedroom, or kids room.

There’s no need to go overboard; a few simple additions can make all the difference in adding a little Christmas cheer to your home this Christmas season the easy way.

Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Choose a cozy Christmas bedroom color scheme.

First things first, pick your color scheme. This could be the same color scheme you use year round or updated to be a little more festive

You’ll want to choose a palette that reflects the overall tone of the holiday season.

You could do a color scheme with white, red, and a touch of black like Rachael from This Is Our Bliss did in her bedroom above.

For example, if you’re going for a more traditional look, you might opt for bright reds and lush greenery like Jenn and Vicki from 2 Bees in a Pod have in their guest bedroom.

However, if you’re looking for something a little more unique, you could try a blue and mustard color scheme like I have here.

Or you could go with an all white color scheme like Maria from Pure Happy Home did above.

Whatever you choose, you’ll need this step before heading in to my next tip… adding a tree.

Add in a bedroom Christmas tree.

Once you have your color scheme, you’ll want to use it as the baseline for decorating your bedroom Christmas tree.

If you don’t have the space for a full-sized tree, you can always opt for smaller table-top mini trees or even a half-tree like Christin from My Homier Home used in her guest bedroom.

Or for a children’s room, you can choose a 4-foot tree that has a smaller profile like the one Colleen from Lemon Thistle has in her daughter’s room.

A set of bottle brush trees with string lights, like what I have in the lanterns are a great way to add Christmas trees to the mix.

Choose ribbon and ornaments that complement your color scheme.

Add simple beaded garland for an elegant touch.

You could even keep the Christmas tree naked in all it’s twinkling glory like Shannon from Fox Hollow Cottage did in her master bedroom.

Adding a Christmas tree to your bedroom will bring all the festive Christmas charm to your mornings and evenings. Such a great way to get in the holiday mood.

Add festive elements around the room.

Next, you’ll want to add little touches of the holidays throughout the room.

A simple way to add your festive colors is in the right bedding or throw blanket add to the end of the bed.

You could even add a Christmas wreath or evergreen garland like I have on the mantel or to the top of the headboard. Accent pillows go a long way in adding Christmas spirit too.

Don’t forget to add miniature Christmas trees to your lanterns or a small reindeer figurine to your bedside tables.

You could also DIY some beautiful wood snowflakes to add to the mix like Zoe from Pine and Poplar did above.

From your bedding to throw pillows to artwork or night stand, adding a few beautiful holiday additions will add a simple festive touch to your room.

Make time to snuggle up by the glow of the tree

Finally, don’t forget to make time to cozy up by the glow of your Christmas tree.

Whether you’re reading a book, chatting with friends, or simply enjoying the quiet of the season in your personal silent night. This is a great way to relax and enjoy the holidays.

Give your kitchen a little holiday makeover this year with some easy and elegant Christmas kitchen decor ideas.

1. Add a simple wreath to the range hood.

This will add a touch of green and Christmas cheer to your kitchen.

2. Add ribbon and a small wreath in your Christmas color scheme to the backs of your chairs.

To add the wreaths to the back of my barstools, I layered a small cedar wreath under a frosted pip berry wreath then wired them together then I tied ribbon around the chair and tied a double knot with extra left over to hang down about 10″. Then I wired the double stacked wreaths to the ribbon.

3. Add a wreath with ribbon to your pantry door.

I took a large wreath and wired the same ribbon I used in my tree and barstools to the bottom of the wreath. Then I used a command strip hook to hang it on the pantry door.

4. Add a wintery mix of stems and greenery in a large vase or ginger jar.

I made this wintery flower arrangement for the center of the island. I used white frosted peonies, red frosted pip berry greenery, and frosted eucalyptus to make this flower arrangement.

5. Switch out your everyday dishes with festive ones.

This is an easy way to change up your decor for the holiday season.

6. Decorate with vintage Christmas trucks.

I set a table using these cute red truck dessert plates from Cracker Barrel and added the extras throughout the kitchen to carry that them over from the dining room.

7. Add wooden trees to your open shelves.

If you have open shelving or open counter space, you can use decorative items like these wood trees to add a pop of color.

8. Add wooden Christmas words to a cake stand.

This is a fun way to add color, as well as different decorative elements to a space. I have a lot of white in my kitchen so the red and greens really pop!

9. Don’t forget to add in some festive baking utensils.

This year, give your kitchen a little holiday makeover with these easy and elegant Christmas kitchen decor ideas. You can add pops of red and green with simple touches like wreaths, ribbon, and festive dishes. Christmas Tree Decor Ideas

The Christmas tree is my favorite place to incorporate all the subtleties of the room’s decor. Think of the tree as the focal point. There are so many tips for decorating a Christmas tree, but here are some of my favorite ideas when it comes to the living room Christmas tree.

1. Incorporate an unexpected, yet nostalgic element to the room alongside the tree.

A rocking horse brings in a vintage element and makes the tree area feel more cozy rather than just a stand alone.

2. Use wood bead garland on the tree.

This wood bead garland is the perfect element to add to the tree in a way that doesn’t detract from the overall beauty.

3. Use layers of ribbon with a gold sleigh bell.

One of my favorite things to do with ribbon on the tree is to add it in layers. I take three types of ribbon and wire them together and then wire them into the tree.

4. Use frosted pip berry stems to add pops of red.

Berry stems are a great way to add a little pop of color without it coming off unnatural and the berries fill in any holes in the tree. I will sometimes layer a branch of greenery, an artificial flower, and a berry stem together and then tuck that into the tree.

5. Find ornaments with subtle color to compliment the neutrals.

The ornaments add in pops of color throughout the tree. I vary the different types of ornaments and usually try to have at least 6 of each type to go on the tree. I also wire the ornaments onto the tree rather than let them hang off the branches. This is great for making sure they stay put and they look nicer this way too!

Fireplace and Mantle Christmas Decor Ideas

In any living room, the fireplace and mantle, whether it be real or faux, is a prime area to focus on for your holiday decorating. Here are a few of my favorite tips for decorating this spot for Christmas.

6. Repeat the same layers of ribbon from the tree on the mantle garland.

Even though we decorate in segments of the room, you want to make sure that the overall aesthetic and theme carries through to all the areas. Adding the same ribbon from the tree is a great way to do this. I also carry the same ribbon or one of the three ribbons over to the staircase garland.

7. Group your stockings on one side of the mantle.

Stockings always look their best in groups of three on one side of the mantle.

8. Spruce up the garland with simple and elegant strings of beads.

Bring in some subtle flash of metallic on the mantel to make it feel more full and warm.

9. Add wrapped presents in your color scheme to the base of the hearth.

Don’t forget to incorporate your gift boxes with your color scheme and use them as decor at the base of the fireplace.

10. Add a deep green or red velvet blanket draped over the arm.

Who doesn’t love a warm fuzzy blanket during the holiday season? Make sure they are readily available and choose colors that compliment your decor.

11. Add throw pillows to create warmth and add pops of color.

My favorite type of throw pillow to add to the mix for the holidays is anything soft, but velvet specifically.

12. Group festive figurines in varying heights on top of a tray.

The key here is to vary the heights of each of the elements. If you are going to group a few small things together, ground those items with a tray. Also group decor items in groups of three or five. I always do things in odd numbers.

13. Add a short vase with evergreen clippings.

I always add some type of flower arrangement to the table or tray. Here I added some small frosted red berry picks to a compote bowl.

14. Incorporate colored taper candles with vintage gold candlesticks.

Adding candles and candlesticks are a great way to add decor to any space. I loved taper candles and you can do white or whatever color matches your decor. Here I did two different colors during the season.

15. Use your favorite Christmas books as decor.

And as always, don’t forget to bring in your favorite holiday books to warm up your decor and add height to the mix.

Christmas Front Porch Decorating Ideas and Tips

I’ve been so excited to share my Christmas Front Porch Decorating Ideas and Tips with you. I partnered with Martha Stewart and Macy’s to decorate my front porch at our Highland, Utah home. This was so much fun and I loved how easy it was to do this!

The Upper Porch

I have an upper and a lower porch so I’ll break it up so you can see both sections. I used a mix of fresh greenery that I bought from a local garden store, cut branches from trees in my yard, and  I also used artificial greenery from the Martha Stewart Holiday Collection at Macy’s. Mixing fresh and faux greenery is one of my favorite tips and tricks to use to decorate my porch.

In the upper flower pots, I added in the mini artificial trees into the middle of the pot. I nestled it right info the potting soil, then I layered fresh greenery around the base of the tree to cover up the potting soil. I pushed the branches right down into the dirt then added in some large and small pine cones.

To add some decor and color to this section of the porch, I added two reindeer on each side, then added the faux poinsettias into Galvinized metal cans. You can have items be the same on each side or mix it up. My porch has a lot of symmetry and a lot of space to fill up so I find that doing the same on both sides keeps things balanced.

The Front Door Wreaths and Garland

I loved the garland from the Martha Stewart holiday collection. It’s lightly frosted and once I hung it around the doors, it matched well with my silver doors. To hang the garland, I put small nail holes into the wood trim surrounding the doors. I used three of the Martha Stewart garlands from Macy’s to create this look. One on the top of the door, and one for each side.

I was amazed at how easy it was to hang the garlands. If you can’t add nails, outdoor command strips also work well and hold up better outside.

I always add two wreaths to my doors for the holiday season. I tied velvet ribbon bows onto the bottom and hung them with the bows on the bottom of the wreath. Make sure to always “fluff” your garlands and wreaths! Artificial wreaths and garlands need a good fluff when you pull them out of the box or bag they come in. Another tip and trick I used to hang my wreaths is command strips. I have silver ones that match my doors.

When you use command strips, make sure the surfaces you’re adhering them to is clean and dry. Apply the strip to the hook, then apply to the door and let set for at least twenty minutes. (if you have time to let it set overnight, it seems to hold up better) (directions for this are also on the command strip boxes).

I used thin green wire to attach the ribbons. Tie the ribbon around the wreath and then tie a bow. Once the bow is tied, I wrap the wire around the bow and wire it onto the wreath and twisting it on the back side of wreath. You can also tie a loop of wire onto the wreath at the top and to hang it by the wire onto the command strips too. Both options work great for hanging wreaths.

The Lower Porch

We have pavers steps up to the lower porch which makes for a grand entrance. I like having the lower flower pots on the front porch so I can decorate that area too. In these lower pots, I used mostly fresh greenery, birch logs, a few faux red berry stems, and more pine cones.

To create this look, I added the birch logs directly into the potting soil of the pot. I pushed them down a few inches until they could stand up on their own. I  put three in each pot towards the center. Then I took a variety of assorted evergreen branches (pine and cedar) and pushed them down into the dirt going all directions so that the branches were falling outward. The dirt helps the branches to stand up.

After the larger greenery branches were in, I used the smaller branches and nestled them into the area on the bottom to fill in any holes. You don’t want the dirt in the pot showing. I also added the faux red berry stems into the middle to add a pop of red. I would’ve preferred something fresh with red berries but I couldn’t find any this year.

Lastly I added in more pine cones to fill in any other gaps or holes, then I added the gold reindeers into the front of the pots.

To add a little more color and to tie into the upper porch, I added two more of the artificial Christmas trees into glavinzied metal pots and set them to the side of the bigger pots.

I also added a different wreath with red velvet ribbon to both the posts on the lower porch.

Hanging the Wreaths on the Upper Windows

One last inexpensive and easy tip is to add wreaths to the windows. I used command strip hooks on the upper windows and let them sit overnight. The next day, I hung three wreaths on the windows. I also added them to the French doors on the lower level but we had a crazy wind storm and it knocked them down. I will wait to attach them again on a less windy day!

The only thing missing now is the snow! We usually get a little snow by this time of year here in Utah. I hope it comes soon as this will all look so beautiful!

Oh and don’t forget to add a nice doormat by the front doors!

Elegant Silver and Gold Christmas Tablescape

I’ve been so excited to share the Elegant Silver and Gold Christmas Tablescape with you! I’m sharing all the details of how I put this together below. Creating Christmas/Holiday tablescapes are always so much fun for me and I look forward to the special memories our family will create sitting around this table.

The Details of the Tablescape

I have always loved Lenox dinnerware, from the fine bone china, to the everyday dishes. I feel like I hit the jackpot when Lenox reached out to me a few months ago and asked me if I wanted to style a table for them using their beautiful dinnerware. Uummmm, pinch me please! YESSSSS! I had been eying the Contempo Luxe Dinnerware for awhile so I chose that pattern, along with a few other items to create this gorgeous table!

The Wintery Garland Centerpiece

As I’ve said before in earlier posts, the beauty lies in the details. I started with creating this wintery garland centerpiece.

To create this, I started with a layer of artificial cedar branches. I layered them by laying three branches going one way with the stem/branch part pointing towards the middle, and then repeating that on the other side until they overlapped each other and interlocked in the middle.

It should look something like this shape:

You can see this (sort of) here below. My apologies for not taking photos of this before I finished it. Sometimes I get so involved in a project, I forget to take photos!

Next, I repeated the same idea as above with frosted pine branches, frosted eucalyptus, mistletoe stems with white berries, and painted pine cones picks. Lastly, I added in some frosted white peonies to fill in any holes. This was done entirely with artificial flowers and greenery.

Next, I added in these beautiful Lenox Wintery Woods Tree Figurines. I used three sets of these, one on each end and the others I nestled into the garland in the middle. Then I added some gold candlesticks.

The Place-Setting

Layering in the place-setting is also important and what I find adds so much beauty to a table. I laid out all the dinnerware and other items I planned to use and organized them on my island to make setting the table easier.

Next I set the placemats out on the table.

I like these placemats because they are so versatile as well as inexpensive. They mix well with so many different sets of dishes too.

After I set the placemats on, I layered a gold charger, then the Contempo Luxe dinner and salad plate. In between the plates I layered the gold and white napkin.

The flatware is also from Lenox and is two toned gold and silver. It’s called the Vintage Jewel Gold 5-Piece Place Setting

Last but not least, I added this gorgeous Stemware called Tuscany Classics Grand Beaujolais also from Lenox.

Oh, and I almost forgot, I added the cute Christmas tree place-card holders too!

Versatility of this Tablescape

One of the things I like about setting a table in this manner is that it’s versatile. I can use this wintery centerpiece garland all winter long. Once the Christmas/Holiday season is over, I can remove the Christmas trees, change the salad plate, and change out the napkin to create a new look for the table. Here you can see more of an overhead detail shot! Each of the layers in the garland centerpiece and the place-setting are what makes this so appealing and beautiful.

I also added some green throw pillows into the the end chairs to add a pop of emerald green to the dining room.

Can you see why I’m obsessed with these dishes? The gold scalloped edge of this Lenox dinnerware is beautiful. It reminds me of the antique Limoges Haviland Ranson China Pattern that I have been collecting for years.

I love how this tablescape has a mix of silver, gold, and white. These colors always mix well together.

I love this side view!

I usually use napkin rings but I decided to switch things up this time and folded the napkin in this unique shape and layered it under the salad plate.

I also added a little frosted tree onto a side table in the corner of the dining room.

Christmas Home Tour 2019 – A Green and Ivory Christmas

I’m sharing all the details of how I decorated my home for Christmas 2019. This year I went with a green and ivory Christmas color scheme. I reuse my decor from previous years throughout my home and rotate the ornaments and other decor items to change things up. This years decorations are some of my favorite and I really love how it all turned out.

The Trees

I put up three Christmas trees this year and I always try to match or coordinate the tree decorations to the decor in the room.

For the the living room tree, I have a 12′ flocked long needle pine artificial tree. I used green, ivory, and white ornaments for this tree.

There are a mix of other ornaments, faux mistletoe stems, and ribbon throughout the tree. Here are some similar options:

For the family room tree I used a 7.5 foot flocked tree and set it into an antique French metal pot. The colors for this tree were blue, ivory, and brown with some greenery mixed into the tree and mantle.

The Mantles

I always decorate the mantles in my living and family rooms.

To create this look on the mantle, I start with a base layer of greenery and then add in layers of individual greenery branches. To secure the garland, I used command strip hooks.

I added the wreath candle holders to the side with green velvet ribbon and then added the gold beaded garland on top of the greenery.

For the family room mantle, I used wooden beads, greenery, and faux floral stems that matched the blue in the room.

The Front Porch

To dress up the front porch, I added some fresh greenery to my flower pots and some large sugar pinecones on top of the greenery. I added more of the big pine cones into the bottom of the garden obelisks. I then added two fresh wreaths to the obelisks and tied them on with a ribbon.

For the upper porch I added some lanterns and two more wreaths onto the doors.

The Entryway

Inside the front door I decorated the entryway table by adding a large ginger jar filled with winter greens and white frosted flowers. I also added some artwork to the table and my “holly jolly” christmas sign. (That is really my name!) I always have to have things that say “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas!” This year I had a sign specially made with the correct spelling of my name.

I added some artificial cedar greenery to the staircase next to the entryway.

Our tiny sized bernadoodles, Coco and Copper always seem to make it into my photos!

The Kitchen and Dining Room

The kitchen is so much fun to decorate for the holidays. I like to add wreaths to the backs of my barstool chairs. Here I layered a frosted berry wreath on top of a slightly larger faux cedar wreath and wired them together. I then wired them onto my barstools.

I filled a white ginger jar with more faux branches and frosted white peony flowers and set it in the middle of the island.

I added some green and white festive dishes and other items to the open shelving in the kitchen.

I love the pops of green and silver throughout the kitchen. It’s a nice contrast against the white counter and cabinets.

I set up a hot coco bar in this little nook in the kitchen.

I set two different tablescapes this year in the dining room. The first is this green, silver, and white tablescape. Because I decorated before Thanksgiving, I made this tablescape work for both holidays. Here you can see how I added in silver turkeys and pumpkins for Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving, I took out all the fall related decor and swapped it out for Christmas decor.

Here’s the Christmas variation of my tablescape. Much of it is the same but with a few changes it looks like a different tablescape!

The Master Bedroom

Lastly, here’s a few more photos of my master bedroom. I loved the addition of this new tree!

Along with the new christmas tree that matched the bedroom decor, I added a few wintery faux branches to a vase on a tray at the end of my bed.

Christmas Home Tour 2017 – Blue, Ivory, and Green Christmas

Welcome! Today I’m sharing all the decorations from our first Christmas at our Highland, Utah home. In our Christmas Home Tour 2017 – A  Blue, Ivory, and Green Christmas, we share all the details below. We have a lot of blue in our decor so I used varying shades of blue, ivory, and green in my decor. All the sources I am able to link will be at the bottom of the post.

EntryWay

I filled a metal container with faux greens and flowers and added two wreaths to the front door.

We added a painted pine cone pick and blueberry picks to the wreaths, then added light blue ribbon tied in a bow. I hung the wreaths with silver command strip hooks. Once you attach the hooks, let them sit for about twenty minutes before you hang the wreath.

The Living Room Tree

We layered green cedar picks, faux blueberry picks, an white frosted hydrangeas and wired them together to go on the tree. Then we wired them into the tree in one piece.

We used a variety of blue, ivory, and green ornaments.

There were a few other ornaments in the tree of varying colors and for the ribbon we wired long pieces together and then wired them into the tree.

The Living Room Mantle

The secret to creating a mantle like this is to start with command strip hooks. We then hung the base garland and attached it to the command strip hooks. It works best if you put the lights on and fluff the garland first.

Once the base garland was secure we added in different pine and cedar picks and then blueberry picks.

Last, we hung the stockings underneath the garland and placed the sign next to the mirror. We can’t leave out the reason for the season so that’s why I placed this sign where we could see it.

Family Room Tree

For the family room tree I used teal blue, brown, and ivory ornaments and a 7.5 flocked tree.

The Family Room Mantle

For the family room mantle we used a base green garland attached with command strip hooks then added frosted pine and frosted eucalyptus picks. Next we added frosted white berry stems and frosted magnolia flowers stems.

Last, we added a few more stockings, a silver star, and more blue and ivory ribbon.

Kitchen and Dining Room Decor

We attached these frosted berry wreaths to the backs of the barstool chairs with the same blue ribbon I used in the family room mantle and living room tree.

I added some fresh flowers in a silver vases to brighten up the kitchen.

The side counter is perfect for my hot cocoa bar in the kitchen.

My Christmas Tablescape

We created this beautiful centerpiece garland and was able to use it for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Once the holidays are over, I take out all the Christmas decor out of the garland and you can leave the table unset with just the garland or you can set a new table that is winter themed. Either way this garland is very versatile.

I set the table with my light blue everyday dinnerware and added silver and green accents.

Throw pillows on the end chairs tie in all the green colors throughout the house.

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is almost here! My talented friends and I have been busy decking out our homes for the holidays, sharing recipes, and creating beautiful tablescapes to host our friends and family. We all love entertaining and hosting parties so we’ve put together another blog post for our “Holiday Hosting at Home” series. Today we are sharing what we’ve been doing over the past few weeks including some creative ideas for Christmas decor and tables. I also share a lasagna recipe that is a family favorite and great any time of the year.

Home with Holliday

Holliday created this beautiful Winter White Snowflake Christmas Table Setting for her neighborhood progressive dinner. She created a beautiful centerpiece out of fresh greens and added in hurricanes, silver sprays, winter white ornaments, and glittered white trees. Click here to see all the details. Next, Holliday created this second tablescape for another holiday party she was hosting and continued with the same snowflake-theme but mixed it up to coordinate with the mixed metallic color palette. To Have to Host

Lory created two different holiday tables. The first was for her husbands office party. She shares how there is something appealing about the way people in Scandinavia decorate for the holidays. Her Nordic Christmas Table is elegantly minimalist, yet still festive. I am part Danish and Swedish so this table really speaks to me. She used fresh greenery, twigs, branches, and antler candlesticks for the centerpiece. She finishes it off with some silver mercury glass votive candles. This modern Scandinavian tablescape creates a nordic Christmas to remember. Click here for all the details.

Next, Lory shares her White Winter Wonderland Bruch table that she created for a family gathering. She kept the decor neutral with lots of white and green making this a great tablescape of all season long. I am a big fan of creating something that can be used for an entire season. Lory is fortunate to live in Arizona where she can entertain outdoors all winter long. I love how she uses fresh greens, giant sugar pinecones, and white dinnerware. Home with Holly J

This past week I shared my Christmas Home Tour and how I decked out my Highland, Utah home for the holidays. I hosted a few parties including a progressive dinner and my first annual cookie exchange. See the details of both my indoor and outdoor decorations and my winter tablescape.  My favorite addition this year was the outdoor obelisks that I placed inside my flower pots and filled them with pines cones and fresh greenery and attached a fresh wreath and ribbon to the top. Creative ideas for Christmas decor

I have always loved Christmas trees! When I was in my early twenties, I went to the most amazing Christmas party in Seattle on Queen Anne Hill where the houses are old and so charming. The lady whose home it was at had a Christmas tree in each room of her house. Each tree was different and matched the colors and decor of the room. She had used live trees in different shapes and sizes but each was unique and beautifully decorated. I remember thinking I wanted to do that someday when I had a home of my own. I have collected trees and ornaments over the years, but I’m still far away from having a tree in every room. Keep scrolling to see tips on decorating a Christmas tree!

Every year I reuse the same decorations and ornaments but I’ll add in a new color or use the ornaments on my other tree. I’m showing last years trees and this years so you can see how I changed it up. I bought a few new ornaments and decorations for this year, but I mainly reused what I already had.  You don’t have to go out and buy all new ornaments or things to decorate your tree each year. Be creative! You’ll be amazed at how different each tree looks with just a few minor changes.

In my Highland home in Utah, I put up two trees. The main one in the living room is a 10′ flocked long needle pine. Last year I used green cedar branches, blue, ivory, and green ornaments and light blue ribbon. This year I took all the green colored items out and used more blue ornaments in different shades and some ivory and cream colored ornaments. I added in a blue plaid ribbon and a thin teal colored velvet ribbon. I didn’t add much, but the trees look so different with just a few small changes.

I put up a slim, 6 1/2 foot flocked tree in our family room.  Last year I used some robins egg blue and brown ornaments that I had used on a tree in my Ravensdale home. I have so many shades of blue in the Highland house and knew these would work well with the family room tree.

To change it up, this year I took out all the robins egg blue ornaments and added in some brown wooden ornaments and the green ornaments that had been in the big tree last year.  I reused the cedar branches in the big living room mantel too. I love both of these trees and can’t decide which one I like better!

Most of what I used in this smaller tree came from the 2017 big tree. It was as if I had all new stuff! I used all the brown ornaments from the small tree and I love how the hunter green and brown look together. I tied it all into the mantel by using the same shades of green in the garland.

I hope you enjoyed seeing both trees from two different years.  It’s fun to experiment and use what you already have.  Next year I’m thinking of adding in some blush pink or maybe some reds!  Who knows what I’ll do but I will never get tired of decorating christmas trees!
