One of my favorite things about fall is gathering around a beautifully set table with family and friends. This year, I wanted to create a soft, muted fall tablescape using dusty blue tones paired with warm autumn colors. I love the cozy and inviting feeling it creates, and with just a few simple changes, this table can easily transition from a fall dinner table to a Thanksgiving table! This Dusty Blue Fall Tablescape is one of my favorite color combos to date!

Dusty Blue Fall Tablescape – A Warm and Inviting Color Palette

This dusty blue fall tablescape brings together elegant textures, warm wood tones, and soft seasonal accents. Perfect for hosting throughout the autumn months.

The Centerpiece

For the centerpiece, I started with an ivory linen table runner and layered an olive leaf garland down the center of the table as the base. I love how the darker green tones create a natural and organic feel. To give it more depth and texture, I tucked in some olive branch stems, Rust Garden Rose Stems, Beige and Mauve Garden Rose Stems, Blue Pod and Green Leaf Spray, Cream Hydrangeas and a mix of velvet and natural pumpkins in warm, muted fall colors.

I also added a few Brown Resin Turkeys for a subtle seasonal touch. To add some extra warmth to the table, I used mango wood candleholders with Light Grey Hand-Dipped Tapered Candles and mango wood squirrels The candlelight creates a soft glow that makes the table feel cozy and elegant when lit at night.

To finish off the centerpiece, I filled in any gaps with small pumpkins in different shades and mango wood squirrels. The combination of soft blues, rust, beige, and natural greens makes the entire centerpiece feel layered and intentional.

The Place Setting

For the place settings, I wanted to keep the look soft and elegant but still warm and rustic. I started with mango wood chargers as the base and layered on dusty blue dinnerware. I bought this dinnerware from Target, it’s from the Magnolia Hearth and Hand Collections but I haven’t been able to find the color for a few years now. I linked some other options below though that are similar. I love the contrast between the wood tones and the soft dusty blue — it’s understated but stunning.

I then added beige linen napkins like these or these here for a soft, feminine touch. These add texture and elegance without overpowering the table. Here are some similar napkin rings that are white washed rattan. For glassware, I used brown wine glasses, which tie in beautifully with the warm tones of the centerpiece and chargers.

Beige Linen Napkins

For the Flatware I used a set that had an aged look to it like this one here: Fortessa San Macro Flaware Set. I chose a rustic set to keep everything cohesive and warm. Each place setting feels cozy, layered, and inviting — perfect for gathering around with loved ones.

Accent Details and Thanksgiving Transition

I love adding little touches that make a table feel special. For this tablescape, I used turkey-shaped salt and pepper shakers to bring in a bit of whimsy and nod to the season.

One of the best things about this design is how easy it is to transition from a fall tablescape to a Thanksgiving table.

1. For fall dinners, I kept the look simple with pumpkins, florals, and candles.
2. For Thanksgiving, I added more turkeys, extra pumpkins, and some turkey shaped salt and pepper shakers to transition the table for the Thanksgiving holiday.

You could also swap out napkin rings or layer in personalized place cards for your guests to make it feel extra special.

Final Touches

This dusty blue and muted fall color palette creates a timeless and elegant tablescape that works beautifully all season long. By starting with a simple, layered base of garland, pumpkins, and florals, you can easily build on it for Thanksgiving without having to redesign the entire table.

Whether you’re hosting a casual fall dinner or a festive Thanksgiving gathering, this versatile tablescape is sure to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone who gathers around your table.

The Table Linens

In this tablescape, I used wooden napkin rings for the linen napkins. To create this look, just unfold the napkin (I ironed them first), pinch the middle of the napkin with your fingers and let the napkin hand downward. Then slide the napkin ring over the pinched section and pull the napkin through the napkin ring. Fluff it up a bit if needed. You can lay the napkin on the left side of the place-setting with the napkin pointing up or down. I like doing it both ways. You can also put the napkin on top of the plate if you want to shake things up. There are so many different ways to style napkins and ways to place them.

The Thanksgiving Table Setting Plan

To make the most of your Thanksgiving table decorations, start by considering your focal point. Then move on to the small details.

In a formal table, consider bringing in natural elements with eye-catching centerpieces.

Once you decide on what you’ll do for the center of your table, consider how to incorporate your color scheme in a simple way for the rest of the table.

You could use earthy tones or white dishes or get creative with your holiday table decor and incorporate a new take on traditional Thanksgiving colors like I did with my light blue and yellow mustard theme.

Using different color schemes for your fall tables will make this special occasion a great time for all to gather around.

The Centerpiece

Creating visual interest by mixing fall foliage and pine cones at the center of the table. For an easy diy Thanksgiving centerpiece, start with light blue woven table linens for your runner.

Then I layered faux fall greenery garland then added blueberry stems, mustard yellow peonies and ranunculus with blue wooden mini pumpkins that look like a pumpkin pinecone.

The Place Settings

This elegant Thanksgiving table setting brings a new take on fall colors with the light blue and mustard yellow color scheme.

To create your own beautiful setting, choose the color for your dinner plate and any other plates you need for your Thanksgiving menu.

I used mustard yellow cloth napkins and a wooden napkin ring in this beautiful place setting. I also used a wood charger and rattan placemats to achieve this beautiful Thanksgiving tablescape.

Adding Personal Style

Last but not least, add some style with your own place cards, turkey salt and pepper shakers and gold stemware.

Now all that’s left is to head to the grocery store to grab your pumpkin pie and all the other delicious food for the perfect Thanksgiving meal.

Harvest Tablescape Featuring the Martha Stewart Collection

I’ve been so excited to share this beautiful Harvest Tablescape featuring the Martha Stewart Collection from Macy’s. It was such an honor to be asked to create a fall tablescape using all things Martha! I have been a Martha Stewart fan since I was young girl and my family and friends tease me that I’m a mini Martha. I definitely love all things Martha Stewart and ABSOLUTLEY love the items from this collection! I’m sharing all the details here and will link all the items at the bottom of the post. The Place-setting

Okay, I just have to gush over these dishes. They are the Baroque Dinnerware Collection and they are stunning! I love the way they stack so nicely on top of each other.

Layering is key in creating a beautiful place-setting. Here I used a woven placemat, then added the gold rimmed charger.

Next, I stacked the two plates and the matching bowl on top. I love that the bowls create height in the place-setting which really makes the dinnerware pop. The shape of the dishes is also beautiful.

I used the Fiddlehead Champagne flatware, the burnt orange cloth napkins, and this gold leaf shaped napkin ring. The darker orange color of the solid napkin contrasts nicely with the stark white dinnerware.

To complete the place-setting, I added in the white pumpkin shaped place-card holders, place cards, and the gold rimmed glass.

The Centerpiece

When I unboxed the three Floral Pumpkin garlands from the harvest collection out of the shipping box, I wasn’t sure how I was going to make them lay flat and stay together on the table. They were folded in half for shipping and every time I opened them up to unfold them, they wouldn’t lay flat on the table or keep their shape once I let go. To solve this problem I decided to try wiring them together and that was the perfect fix. I used four pieces of wire and wrapped it around the three garlands to secure them together. Once they were wired together, they kept their shape and laid flat in the middle of the table.

Once I was done with wiring the garlands together I noticed there were still some holes left in the sides of the garland. To fill it in, I added a few single stem faux flowers into the sides of the wired garland. This helped fill in all the holes and is how I achieved the uniform shape that filled up the middle of the table nicely. I also “fluffed” the flowers in the garland. They tend to get squished a bit during shipping and fluffing is always a must!

Once I finished the centerpiece garland, I tucked in the brown glass votive candle holders, to fill in any other holes. Candle holders are the perfect addition to any table as they add color, fill in holes if needed, and add ambiance and warmth to your table.

I later added in some taller candlesticks to make the table a bit more formal. I didn’t snap any photos of that though but I’ll link the three sizes of candlesticks I used at the bottom of the post. Candlesticks are another way to dress up your table and add ambiance.

Additional Fall Decor Touches

Another thing I did to add more festive fall touches to my dining room was to add a wreath. One of my favorite tricks for decorating is to layer two wreaths together. The wreath I received from the Martha Stewart Collection at Macy’s was perfect and matched the garlands on the table but the space I wanted to hang it was a bit large for the size of the wreath. To fix that problem, I layered another fall wreath I already had behind the smaller one and wired them together. It worked perfect and was the right fit for the space.

Drink Cart

Because my dining table is made from reclaimed wood and doesn’t have a protective finish on it, I like to set up a drink cart or station near the dining table.

Having this drink station helps keep my table from being spilled on. I also added in this matching centerpiece ,also from the Martha Stewart Harvest collection to dress up this smaller table.

Why Set a Beautiful Table?

I’m often asked why I go to such lengths to set a pretty table and the short answer is that I love doing it. The long answer is that I learned the art of setting a pretty table from my mother. She always made the effort to set the table for family dinner and I always felt like that was her way of showing us she cared. She always had a vase of flowers she’d picked from her garden on the table.

I also feel a connection to my grandmothers (who have passed on) when I use their dishes. It’s also my way of making that extra effort and it’s an extension of my love. I love gathering family and friends and sharing a meal together. Making a home cooked meal is also part of that for me and I hope to create those experiences for my family. Gathering around the table, making memories, and spending quality time together is what matters to me and it brings me joy!

I will often take the dishes and everything off the table and leave the centerpiece up for the season. It’s the perfect table decor!

I’m sharing 10 of the best Fall Themed Tablescape ideas all in one post! I thought it would be fun to put them all in one post and hopefully these will inspire you to create a Fall Themed Tablescape of your own.

Many of these tablescapes have pumpkins, some have fall colors, some have turkeys for Thanksgiving, and some are all of the above! All of them can be used for Thanksgiving or during the Fall season. l will share a little bit of information about each tablescape below and you can click on each link for all the details of each one!

Blue and Yellow Summer/Fall Tablescape

This is what I call an “end of summer and transition into fall tablescape”. I used colors that work for both seasons and I alternated the dishes to create ten place settings.

This burnt orange and tan pumpkin themed tablescape is still one of my favorites ever! The dishes have pumpkins painted on them and I just love the color combo. I also love the velvet pumpkins nestled into the garland centerpiece.

This tablescape is a mix of old and new dishes. I mixed my vintage Limoges Haviland gold and white scalloped plates with some newer solid green dishes. The top plates with the gold pumpkins on them are from my local Fred Meyer/Kroger Co. grocery store!

I actually created two tablescapes using two sets of dishes. This is another one of my “end of summer and transition into fall” tablescapes. There’s no pumpkins or turkeys in the garland but you could easily set this tablescape for early fall and then add some thanksgiving touches with pumpkins and turkeys.

I set one tablescape outside for the kids and one inside for the adults. I alternated the plates from the two sets of dishes and made it possible to create enough place-settings for sixteen people. This is a great way to make enough place settings when you don’t have enough dishes for a larger group.

This blue and orange tablescape sort of came about on accident. I never intended it to turn out this way but nothing I had planned to do was working and so I started playing around with different dishes I had and this is what came about. I used paper placemats that added a pop of color to the table. The garland is full of velvet pumpkins, faux flowers, and faux blueberries.

This one was so much fun! I took a poll on my Instagram stories to see how many liked it and 10% of the people who answered didn’t like it! Hahaha, that’s ok, because I liked it and 90% of the people I asked did too. Can’t please everyone! LOL! I did two variations of it! With and without the bowls. Which do you prefer?

Black, Yellow, and White Cabin Tablescape

Every summer I set a new tablescape at our cabin in Montana. This is the one I did this year (2020). I put the leaf of the table in to make it seating for eight and the theme was black and white check with a touch of mustard yellow. I foraged for some wild grasses and flowers around the cabin and that became the centerpiece. I love how this one turned out!

This is what I jokingly call my turkey tablescape! I love the using the turkey shaped serving pieces as part of the tablescape. I also used some tan colored velvet pumpkins and the little turkey placard holders. The turkey shaped salt and pepper shakers also made it perfect for Thanksgiving.

One thing I like to do is to set a table for Thanksgiving and then take out any of the decor that is thanksgiving or fall related and swap it out for Christmas. Here I used my fine china and added some silver mercury pumpkins and silver turkeys into the garland centerpiece. When Thanksgiving was over, I took all that out and added in some silver mercury ornaments and it became my Christmas tablescape.

This is an outdoor, end of summer and transition into fall tablescape that I set for a dinner party in my backyard at our home in Washington. This is in my top five of favorite tablescapes. It was recently published in American Farmhouse Style magazine. I created this tablescape with the help of my friend Amy Brown who owns Laughing Goat Flower Farm. I cooked some of my homemade recipes with veggies from my garden and Amy’s farm and we created the centerpiece and garland with flowers and greenery from the farm and my backyard. This was so much fun and I wish I could go back in time to this day!

Green, Gold, and White Thanksgiving Tablescape

One of my favorite things to do is create a beautiful Thanksgiving tablescape where we can gather as a family for Thanksgiving dinner. I thoughly enjoyed creating this Green, Gold, and White Thanksgiving Tablescape. I think this one is one of my favorites!

The Place-setting — Mixing Green, Gold, and White

I like to layer different plates, chargers, and placemats to create a more dramatic look. The top plate has a green pumpkin painted on it and it matches the green plates I had recently purchased.

For the placemat I used this hyacinth placemat to add some different texture to the place-setting. The charger is one of my favorites as it goes with so many different place-settings.

The green plates are one of my most versatile sets of dishes. I’ve mixed them with white and silver, green and gold, green and white and I may even use them with red for a Christmas tablescape!

I also used my gold and white vintage limoges haviland (ranson pattern) antique plates. These are also versatile and I’ve used them in so many different place-settings. Mixing the old with the new is one thing I love to do.

The Centerpiece Garland

I like creating a garland down the middle of the table when I use my bigger tables at both my homes. It fills up the empty space in the middle of the table if you’re not serving food on the table. Keeping it lower to the table doesn’t block your view of the guests across from you.

For this garland I used faux greenery and flowers. One reason I like using artificial greenery and flowers is that it can be used over and over again. If you buy quality products and you take care to store them properly, they will last you for many years.

I started with two base garlands on the bottom. I then layered in eucalyptus and a mix of green flowers.

I love velvet pumpkins and they are one of my favorite items to add to a tablescape. They come in all sizes and colors. Some come with real stems and some are faux. Can you tell if these are real stems or faux? (they are faux!)

One thing to look for when buying velvet pumpkins is that they work better when they have something inside of them that helps weigh them down, like rice or small beans. This makes them a lot easier to decorate with and they stay in place. (I’ll link some below at the end of the post)

Last I added in wooden candlestick holders and taper candles.

Mixing different textures and colors and layering them is key. The wooden candlestick holders and hyacinth placemats connect the reclaimed wood table to the place-setting. The velvet pumpkins match the pumpkin plates.

The white and gold plates tie the flatware and gold accents on the charger and pumpkin plates together. The gold and white napkins, gold napkin rings, and gold flatware connect all the gold and whites together. Lastly, the amber goblets I used tie all the gold and amber colors in the centerpiece and place-setting together.

Details, Details, Details!

I am known to say “the beauty lies in the details” and I wholeheartedly believe that! In this green, gold, and white thanksgiving tablescape I paired rustic and elegant elements and connected them together with colors and textures. It’s okay to mix these together!

You don’t have to have ten sets of dishes to pull this off. I have a handful of items that I use often, like the chargers. These chargers have been used in many of my tablescapes as have the placemats.

Invest in a few versatile items and dish sets, mix and match them and you’ll be surprised at how many combinations you can make. Here is another version of a similar tablescape where I used many of the same items. Click here to see the full post. Green and Gold Fall Harvest Tablescape

Here you can see some of the same items. The placemat and top plate are different and the napkins and goblets are different. I changed the candlesticks holders to these gold ones and took out the gold pumpkins. I also switched the burlap table runner to this green shorter one.

I turned the napkins upside down to create a different look. You can see how making just a few changes, this tablescape looks similar but different. This one is more elegant and doesn’t have the same rustic components as the other.

Be Creative and Have Fun!

Most importantly, don’t stress over creating a beautiful tablescape. Be creative and use items that reflect your personal taste. Most of the time I start out with an idea in my head and when I go to create the tablescape, it doesn’t come out like I had envisioned it.

If something doesn’t work, keep playing with different items you have in your collection and eventually you’ll find something that works! You don’t have to spend a lot of money. Invest in a few items that are versatile and build your collection of items slowly. I’ve accumulated a lot over the years and I use everything I have collected.

You can also check with local rental places that rent dishes and items for weddings or events. Many of them carry table linens, tables, chairs, flatware, and dishes. It’s quite affordable if you don’t want to accumulate a bunch of dishes or things you don’t use that often or want different colors than you have. Storage can also be an issue so if you don’t have the storage space, this may be a great option for you.

When I saw these white ceramic turkeys at Pottery Barn (linked at the bottom of the post) a few months back, I knew I wanted to create a tablescape around them.  I envisioned a rustic table for Thanksgiving with a green garland and some velvet pumpkins throughout.

I started with a tan linen table runner and layered faux green leafed stems, eucalyptus, and some smaller faux sage bunches.  I added in a few small white flower stems and some tan colored pinecone picks.

I used some rustic candlestick holders with white candles and some turkey shaped salt shakers. I also found some matching turkey place card holders that I’ll put place cards in when I have finalized the guest list for Thanksgiving.

For the places setting, I used light, neutral colors to create a rustic feel to the table. I used a pretty napkin to add some color and texture and rustic flatware.  I used my silver rimmed stemware that meshed perfectly with the other things on the table.

I filled the white turkey serving bowls with tan colored pinecones and used velvet pumpkins in varying colors throughout the garland.  If you look close you can see some tiny velvet acorns.

I added dark hunter green pillows to the end chairs to bring some more color in. With so many light, neutral tones, I wanted a little color at the ends of the table to tie into the green garland.
