St. Patrick’s Day is a festive time of year and an ideal opportunity to bring a little bit of festive green and gold into your kitchen. In today’s post, I’ll show you some green and gold inspiration to transform your kitchen into a vibrant and festive space.

Kitchen Countertop and Shelves

I’m so excited to share some inspiration on how to add touches of green and gold as well as St. Patricks Day decor to your kitchen. You don’t have to go all out to make it festive, you can keep it simple and use subtle items like dishes, flowers, vases, and serving bowls to create a touch of spring that also doubles as St. Patricks Day decor. I used different shades of green to bring in some color as well and white and green accents throughout my kitchen and dining area. I kept this seasons decor simple and then on St. Patricks Day, I added in a few other items that made it work for both St. Patricks Day and spring!

I added some white serving bowls and cake stands, some of them antique milk glass and mint green dishes to the open shelving. I also added a spring wreath with white and green colors.

I love these kitchen appliances that I discovered recently. They come in white and gold and a handful of other colors, including green! They are aesthetically pleasing as well as functional! I’ve linked some of them below! They work amazingly too and are a great value!

Another way to add in color and warmth to your kitchen that works for St. Patricks Day decor as well as Spring, is to add a charcuterie or cutting board to your island or counter and then add some flowers in a vase. I also used this cute recipe card holder and some cookies for snacking later.

Faux Stems to recreate the look:

I added little touches of green throughout my kitchen, including the utensil crocks, a cookbook set up on an easel, and I arranged some faux apple blossoms in a green and white floral vase.

Stovetop Decor

I like to add in fresh flowers as well as faux. I made up this arrangement using grocery store flowers.

I like to mix new and old decor items and you can see here how I used antique milk glass and mixed it in with some newer cake stands and other compote dishes. I also like to swap out some of the enameled cookware that I use often and here I used the ivory/white colored pans that I have.

Because my kitchen has a lot of white, it’s fun to dress it up for each season and holiday. One of my biggest tips for decorating your home is to style for the season and to also make it versatile for whatever holidays fall within that season. This saves me so much time! It’s a challenge sometimes to make it all work but I hope this post gives you some ideas and inspiration on how to decorate for both Spring and St. Patricks Day.

Green and Gold Tablescape

St. Patrick’s Day Accents

On the actual St. Patrick’s Day holiday, I added this fun little dessert tray to for everyone to enjoy.

My daughter made these yummy St. Patricks Day treats and they were so good! She’s quite the little baker!

This Sugar Cookie recipe is one of my favorites. It makes a large batch and both the cookie and the frosting are both so good! I got this recipe from my darling friend Rachel Parcell. She made these for Valentine’s Day, and so I thought it would be fun to make shamrocks for Saint Patrick’s Day after seeing her post and recipe. It’s a simple recipe to make and is fun for every season. I wanted to try different sizes of shamrock cookie cutters and different shades of green for the frosting.

I discovered that frosting shamrock shapes are much harder than hearts!  I tried frosting them the traditional way with a knife, but the frosting covered up the shape and I couldn’t tell what it was. There was a lot of experimenting to find a way to frost them and still be able to tell what shape they were.

After some trial and error, I tried piping the frosting using different-sized piping tips and that method worked the best. I experimented with the four different shades of green frosting and some turned out better than others. I’m not an expert baker or piper so these are what I’d call rustic! They were not perfect looking but it was fun to experiment and they tasted amazing! I’ve tried a lot of sugar cookie recipes and Rachel’s recipe is the best one I’ve found.

Cookie Cutter and Piping Tips/Bags

I put 4 different shades of green frosting into piping bags. It was fun to experiment and come up with different variations. The green sprinkles were a fun addition, and what kid doesn’t love to decorate cookies and add sprinkles on top?!

I really enjoyed adding a few touches of green to my kitchen and dining room this year to celebrate Saint Patricks Day. I don’t usually go all out for the smaller holidays but I like adding a few decorations to brighten things up and St. Patricks Day is such a fun and colorful holiday to decorate for.

When I’m decorating my home for the different seasons, I try to create decor that can be used for that season and whatever holidays fall within that season. I start out by choosing a base color that mixes well with the colors in my home. I have a lot of blue decor so I try to mix in the seasonal colors with what I already have.

The Hot Cocoa Bar

I had this hot cocoa bar set up for my Galentines Day Brunch and I decided to keep it out for St. Patricks Day when I realized I had some mugs with shamrocks them. How could I not use these in the hot cocoa bar! I also had some gold chocolate coins that looked so cute in one of my milk glass compotes. I switched out the pink milk glass for the white milk glass and changed out the mugs. I then added these adorable felt ball garlands and just laid them around the tray. This brightened up the entire room and with all the snow that’s been falling in Utah, this hot cocoa bar came in handy!

The Kitchen

My inspiration for Spring and St. Patricks Day were these beautiful green and white ginger jars. I bought some pretty green and white flowers and used one of the jars as a vase for the centerpiece on the kitchen island. Fresh flowers in a ginger jar or vase is always a great accent and brightens up any room.

I used some of my antique milk glass compotes and my green, blue, and white dishes on the open shelves.  The blue dishes are our everyday dishes and for each season or holiday, I alternate some of my other dishes.

It’s so much fun to decorate the hood over the stove! To give it a little touch of the Irish, I used another felt ball and this shamrock garland. Adding in a few simple decorations makes a big statement. Sometimes less is more and in this case, I think the simplicity is better.

Add in some Shamrock Sugar Cookies and some hot cocoa and you’re all set for Saint Patricks Day treats!

The Tablescape

For the Tablescape, I used the same green, white, and blue dishes. If you look close enough, you can see a green shamrock painted on them. I added in touches of gold with the glasses, silverware, and candlesticks which made this tablescape perfect for a St. Patricks Day dinner with the family.

The only thing that’s missing now are the St. Patricks Day Cupcakes and people to eat them!

One Tablescape, Three Occasions

I created this tablescape for St. Patrick’s Day, but it also works well for Spring and Easter, and I had these beautiful dishes with the prettiest colors of green and blue that I’d been saving for something special. This particular tablescape for St. Patricks Day was designed to be versatile for many celebrations. I decided they would be perfect for this versatile tablescape.  Creating beautiful tablescapes is something I’ve always loved to do, and when I can create one that works for an entire season, I love it even more! It’s almost a challenge to create something that I can use for multiple occasions.

The Centerpiece

When creating a tablescape, I like to create a garland centerpiece. Spring flowers are still a ways off, so I used faux flowers. If you use quality faux flowers, they can be used again, which I’m always a fan of.  I’ll link all my favorite sources at the bottom of the post. Incorporating green accents is key for a memorable tablescape for St. Patricks Day.

To create the centerpiece, I used a long, faux garland and laid it on top of a table runner for the base of the centerpiece. After fluffing the garland, I start layering in the other stems and flowers. I used long-stemmed faux eucalyptus, white peonies, and some other white floral stems to fill it in, and then I added in some gold and teal votive candle holders and gold candlesticks. Adding the touches of gold gives the table an elegant look. By mixing elements, the tablescape for St. Patricks Day stands out each season.

Here you can see the centerpiece greenery and the other white flowers that make up the garland centerpiece. In fact, the overall result is perfect for a festive tablescape for St. Patricks Day.

The Place-Setting

For the place-setting, I chose cream colored chargers with a hint of gold and mixed in white salad plates between the green and blue dishes. This adds some contrast and breaks up the busy pattern of the dishes. For the flatware, I used a gold set with an elegant pattern and gold-rimmed stemware to coordinate with the other gold accents in the dishes and candles. I used mint green, solid colored napkins, and laid the flatware on top of them. The dishes have a lot going on with the pattern, so I thought it would tie the colors together with a napkin that was simple. To finish, I made sure it worked as a tablescape suitable for St. Patricks Day.

The beauty of this versatile tablescape for St. Patrick’s Day, Spring, and Easter lies in the details. Furthermore, every tablescape for St. Patricks Day benefits from thoughtful accents.

St. Patrick’s Day or Spring Version

I love how versatile these dishes are! If you look closely, you can see what looks like a three-leaf clover. That’s what makes these perfect for St. Patrick’s Day as well as Spring, and Easter. I love creating one tabblescape that works for a few holidays or one season. Let your tablescape for St. Patricks Day reflect the spirit of the holiday and the freshness of Spring.

The Easter Version

For Easter, I placed an Easter sign in the middle of the table next to the garland with similar colors, and then I placed small porcelain white easter bunnies and white eggs (not shown) into the garland and at the end of the tables near the candlesticks. Just a few small additions and this tablescape is now an Easter table. Of course, with different colors, you can adapt your tablescape for St. Patricks Day to Easter easily.

The Extra Details

The extra details added to a tablescape are what make it extra special. I add candlesticks, votive candles, and other simple items. Some items, like candles, add more formality, and leaving them off can make the table more informal. You can change it up a little for each occasion, too.
