Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting my friend’s farm, surrounded by blossoming cherry trees, and it instantly reminded me of one of my all-time favorite recipes: homemade cherry crisp using fresh cherries.

Cherry crisp, or as some may call it, cherry crumble, holds a special place in my heart. Its simplicity and irresistible flavor make it a go-to dessert for any occasion, whether it’s a summer barbecue, a cozy family dinner, or simply a sweet treat to enjoy on a warm evening. And as summer draws near, I couldn’t resist sharing this family recipe with you all.

Homemade Cherry Crisp

This Cherry Crisp, or some might call it a crumble, is super easy to make and so delicious. Serve it up warm with some vanilla ice cream and you'll be everyone's favorite person!

Ingredients

• 4 cups tart pie cherries fresh or frozen
• ½ cup sugar
• 1 cup softened butter
• 1½ cup flour
• 1½ cup oatmeal
• 1½ cup brown sugar
• 1 tsp salt
• 3 tsp almond extract
• non-stick spray or coconut oil

Instructions

• Place 4 cups tart pie cherries fresh or frozen (can be frozen or thawed) in a mixing bowl. Add ½ cup sugar and 3 tsp almond extract and stir gently until the sugar is mixed in well.
• Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with non-stick spray and then dump the berries into the baking dish. Spread the cherries out to cover the bottom of the pan. Set aside.
• Preheat the oven to 350°
• In another mixing bowl, combine the 1 cup softened butter, 1½ cup flour, 1½ cup oatmeal, 1½ cup brown sugar, and 1 tsp salt. Use a pastry cutter or your hands to mix the crumbled topping together. You'll want the pieces of butter to be pea-sized if possible.
• Dump the crumbled topping on top of the cherries in the baking dish and cover the cherries with the crumbled ingredients evenly. It's okay if some of the cherries are sticking out or if it doesn't go all the way to the edge of the pan.
• Bake at 350° for approximately 30 minutes. The juice from the cherries will bubble up around the edges.
• Let cool for 10-15 minutes and then serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

If you want to use blueberries, raspberries, marion berries or peaches, omit the almond extract and use 2 tsp of cinnamon instead. 

For apples, use green tart apples and follow the recipe as is. 

Make sure you serve warm with vanilla ice cream! 

If you like the crumble topping, you can always double that part of the recipe!

Delicious Salted Caramel Chocolate Trifle Recipe

Today I’m sharing another Trifle recipe! After sharing the Strawberry Lemon Trifle recipe a few weeks ago, many asked me to hurry up and share the others. This Salted Carmel Chocolate Trifle was also a big hit when I made this (and three others) for my niece’s bridal shower a few years back.

This delicious Salted Caramel Chocolate Tripe recipe is super easy to make! You can go all out and bake everything from scratch or you can use store-bought mixes like I did.

Trifles are one of the easiest desserts you can make, especially when you’re in a time crunch or need something fast and easy to make that also tastes amazing.

You can literally add anything into a trifle so be creative! I made this recipe up on the fly and I think it was the favorite for the chocolate lovers and rivaled the Strawberry Lemon Trifle I made the same day.

If you have never heard of a trifle dessert here is what it is:

The traditional version of trifle that originated in England in the 18th century (with less similar dishes being made even earlier) consisted of three or four layers, including some sort of fruit, alcohol-soaked sponge cake, and custard. The fruit and cake were often layered with homemade jelly. This classic interpretation was always served in a round bowl.

American trifles are similar but fortunately, a bit less complicated. They consist of multiple layers of crumbled or cubed cake, pudding, and fruit.

The flavors can vary widely, from raspberries, peach yogurt, and angel food cake to brownies, white chocolate pudding, and candy bar bits.

They’re topped with whipped cream and some sort of crumbs or nuts to add texture.

Trifle should be served in a deep, round dish—ideally one that’s clear so diners can see all of the layers.

So really a trifle is a bunch of goodness all in the same bowl! How’s that for my own definition? You can really add in anything you like or have on hand. You could even add in some vanilla-flavored pudding to balance out all the chocolate. 

For this Salted Carmel Chocolate Trifle, I used a box of chocolate cake and baked it on a sheet cake pan. After it cools off, cut the cake into 1-2″ bite-sized pieces. 

Next, I added the cake to the bottom of my trifle dish and then drizzled some of the salted caramel over the cake. Then I made a box of jello instant chocolate pudding and then mixed them together. I added in a layer of this pudding mixture over the cake and caramel.

 

I then repeated the same layers then topped it off with more Cool Whip, salted caramel, and some shaved chocolate from a chocolate bar.

This Salted Caramel Chocolate Trifle is super easy to make and so delicious. You can use store-bought ingredients or make everything from scratch. Ingredients

• 1 box small jello instant chocolate pudding (prepared) + 2 cups milk
• 1 large container cool whip
• 1 jar salted caramel
• 1 box chocolate cake mix prepared as directed (eggs, oil, water)
• 1 bar chocolate

Instructions

• Prepare and bake a 1 box chocolate cake mix prepared as directed. Set aside to cool.
• When the cake has cooled, cut the cake into 1-2" pieces.
• Prepare 1 box small jello instant chocolate pudding (prepared) mix as directed and then add in 3/4 of the container of Cool Whip and mix together until well blended. Reserve the remainder of the cool whip to top the trifle at the end.
• In a trifle bowl or dish, layer the chocolate cake pieces onto the bottom and then drizzle some of the salted caramel on top of the cake.
• Next, add a layer of the pudding/cool whip mixture.
• Repeat the layer steps 1-2 more times until your trifle bowl is almost full.
• Once the layers are complete, top the trifle with the remainder of the cool whip and drizzle more salted caramel on top.
• Use a small cheese grater or zesting grater and shave off some of the chocolate bar on top for garnish.
• Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.

Easy and Delicious Strawberry Lemon Trifle Dessert

If you’re looking for a delicious and easy dessert recipe to make for your next family gathering or party, try my Strawberry Lemon Trifle recipe.

It’s one of my go-to recipes whenever I host a baby or bridal shower and is always a hit no matter when I serve it. Everyone asks me for the recipe so I’m finally sharing it!

What is a trifle?

It’s a layered dessert that’s so easy to make.

This dessert has been around for hundreds of years and originated in England. It is layers of cake, fruit, and a mixture of pudding and whipped cream. If you have a cake that sinks or breaks, you can always toss it into a trifle! I’ve had a few cake fails over the years that still tasted great but didn’t look great and I improvised and made a trifle with the broken cake pieces.

The Fan Favorite

I created this recipe many years ago when I hosted my niece’s bridal shower. I made four different trifles and this one was the favorite. I’ll share the other recipes in future posts but trifles are easy to make up on the fly! The one below in the back was made with a chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, whipped cream, and salted caramel. The one next to it was made with yellow cake, whipped cream, vanilla pudding, chocolate syrup, and a Heath bar crumbled in between the layers. The one on the front was made with yellow cake, vanilla pudding, whipped cream mixed with cream cheese, and fresh berries. I seriously just threw them together and used combinations that I thought would go good together!

Another thing I love about trifle is how quick and easy it is to make.

You can use a store-bought cake mix unless you have a special cake recipe you prefer.

For this one I used a lemon box cake mix, you can use any brand or make one from scratch. For the puddings, I used Jello brand lemon cooked pudding (which looks more like lemon curd or lemon pie filling) and lemon instant pudding and followed the directions on the boxes.

For the whipped cream, you can use cool whip or whip heavy cream. It’s totally up to you!

I have done it both ways but if you’re short on time and want to make it extra simple, you can use all the store-bought items I just mentioned.

Strawberry Lemon Trifle Dessert

This trifle recipe is quick and easy to make using store-bought ingredients. It's perfect for any baby or bridal shower, a summer barbecue, or any time you want a refreshing, simple dessert.

• 1 Trifle Bowl

Ingredients

• 1 box Lemon Cake Mix (eggs, oil, water, made as directed)
• 1 large Box Jello Lemon Cooked Pudding (eggs, water, sugar, made as directed)
• 1 small Box Lemon Instant Pudding (milk, made as directed)
• 1 large Container Cool Whip
• 1 quart Strawberries, cut into slices
• 1 Lemon for garnish if preferred

Instructions

• Bake the 1 box Lemon Cake Mix (eggs, oil, water, made as directed). Set aside and let cool.
• While the cake is baking, make the 1 large Box Jello Lemon Cooked Pudding (eggs, water, sugar, made as directed) as directed and let cool. (You can set it aside to cool while the cake is baking and cooling off.)
• Make the 1 small Box Lemon Instant Pudding (milk, made as directed) as directed. Stir in half of the container of Cool Whip and mix well.
• Once the cake has fully cooled off, cut the cake into 1-2" squares. Use a spatula to loosen the little pieces of cake and remove the cake from the baking sheet or pan.
• Next start layering the ingredients into the trifle bowl. Start by layering some of the cake pieces onto the bottom of the trifle bowl loosely until most of it is covered. Next layer some of the lemon-cooked pudding (this looks more like lemon curd) on top of the cake until covered.
• Then layer some of the lemon pudding/cool whip mixture on top of the other lemon cooked pudding and then add some of the sliced strawberries on top. To make it pretty, you can add some strawberries along the inside of the bowl and then scatter the rest on top of the pudding mixture.
• Add another layer of cake, then the lemon cooked pudding, lemon pudding/cool whip then strawberries and layer this way until the trifle bowl is almost full. I can usually fit two layers into a trifle bowl but it can vary depending on how big your bowl is. You might even have enough to make a second one or make a mini one for later if you have leftover cake and pudding.
• Add some of the remaining cool whip on top and then garnish with strawberries and lemons if preferred.
• Refrigerate until ready to serve. I like to make mine a little bit ahead so it all has time to chill in the fridge before serving.

Homemade Milk Chocolate Chip Cazookie Recipe

Today I’m sharing one of my family’s favorite recipes. My Homemade Milk Chocolate Chip Cazookie.

What is a Cazookie?

What is a Cazookie? It’s a cookie that’s baked in a small pie dish or cake pan, served warm, then topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. You can use any type of cookie or ice cream of course, but this one is our favorite.

I used to make these for my kids on their birthdays or an after-school snack. You can always just make milk chocolate chip cookies from this recipe but baking them in a small pie dish and adding the ice cream turns them into a cazookie and it becomes an extra special treat. Who doesn’t love a warm cookie and ice cream drizzled with hot fudge?!

Recipe Notes

I start by making my homemade chocolate chip cookie dough recipe. I prefer to use milk chocolate chips but you can use semi-sweet too! Whatever you like better.

You could also use a small cake pan or any type of small baking dish that is oven-safe.

Then I take a few scoops of the dough, add it to a mini pie dish and press it into the dish.

Bake the cookie dough (I like to underbake mine just a bit so that it’s ooey-gooey in the middle).

Once the cookie is baked, add some vanilla ice cream to the top while the cookie is still warm.

Then drizzle some chocolate syrup or hot fudge to the top if you like.

Homemade Milk Chocolate Chip Cazookie Recipe

This milk chocolate chip cookie recipe is so good and I love to make them in mini pie dishes and turn them into Cazookies. Bake individually then add ice cream and hot fudge for the yummiest dessert or treat.

Ingredients

• ¾ cup sugar
• ¾ cup brown sugar
• 1 cup butter
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 egg
• 2¼ cup flour
• 1 tsp baking soda
• ½ tsp salt
• 1 12oz bag milk chocolate chips
• 1 carton vanilla ice cream
• 1 jar hot fudge or chocolate sauce

Instructions

• Preheat oven to 350°
• Cream softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar in a stand mixer or by hand. Then add vanilla and mix in the egg.
• Add the flour, salt, and baking soda to the creamed ingredients and stir or mix until the cookie dough is well mixed. Then add the milk chocolate chips to the dough and mix until they are blended in evenly. I prefer to use Ghiradelli Milk Chocolate Chips.
  
• Use a cookie scoop and put 2-3 scoops into a mini pie dish or small cake pan and press down to flatten the dough evenly along the bottom of the dish/pan. Bake on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Don't over bake them. I like mine soft so I take them out just before they start to turn brown on the top. They should be soft and chewy.
  
• Depending on how many cazookies you decide to make out of this dough recipe, you may have some left over cookie dough. I usually double the recipe and freeze the rest of the dough for later or bake the rest of the cookies.
  
• Once cazookies are done, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top then drizzle with hot fudge and serve warm.
  
• If you want to bake the cookies separately, bake at 350° on a cookie sheet or baking stone for 10-12 minutes in the oven. I like to under-bake mine just a bit to keep them moist and chewy.

Summertime Barbecue Recipes and Entertaining Ideas

One of my favorite things about summertime is having a family barbecue so today I’m sharing some of my favorite Summertime Barbecue Recipes and Entertaining Ideas for hosting your own backyard barbecue. Summertime is all about good food and good times with family and friends!

Planning the Menu

I have so many great recipes that are perfect for a summertime backyard barbecue and I’m sharing some of my favorites here. I like using the freshest, high-quality, organic ingredients when possible as I think that makes everything taste better! For this barbecue, I made my famous baby back ribs, baked beans, fresh peach pie with cream cheese filling, my caramel cream cheese fruit dip and fresh fruit, corn on the cob, chopped green salad with a lemon and olive oil vinaigrette, sugar cookies, and limeade for the drink.

On the morning of the barbecue, I went to my favorite store Fred Meyer to get everything I needed for the barbecue. I love Fred Meyer because it’s a one-stop shop. Not only can I get high-quality produce, meat, and organic ingredients, but I was able to get everything else I needed there too, including flowers!

I always like to have flowers on my table when I’m hosting a party or gathering and Fred Meyer has a great selection of flowers. On this particular visit to the store, the lady working in the floral department helped me find the perfect flowers for my summer table.

I also needed a new basting brush for the ribs and found the perfect one in the kitchen section of the store. Some of my favorite sets of dishes and entertaining items are also from Fred Meyer. I always find myself taking a stroll through the dish section! (See these posts for some of my Fred Meyer dish sets here and here)

I am a very busy person (aren’t we all!?) and hosting a gathering can be a little overwhelming so when I can get everything I need in one store, it’s a win-win!

The Private Selection brand is my favorite line of products in Fred Meyer and I use them all the time. They also have their in-house Kroger brand which is also high quality and affordable.

You can find almost everything you need in the Kroger brand family. Fred Meyer promises freshness and quality in all their products. Whether it’s meat or produce, Fred Meyer has everything you need for your summer grilling and entertaining.

Another thing that I really like is how Fred Meyer makes it so easy to shop. They offer easy pickup and delivery options for you to get all your groceries and supplies in one place. This makes hosting at home so much easier. Man oh man do I wish this had been an option when I had little kids!

I often order my groceries online and do the pickup option. I don’t even have to get out of my car! When it’s raining in Seattle, which it is often, this is the best thing ever!

Summertime Entertaining Ideas

When it’s really hot outside, I like to set up my serving table inside the house where it’s cool during the summer months. We don’t have a lot of shade in our backyard at our home in Utah and it gets quite warm in our backyard. When I do a barbecue at our home in Washington, we have a fully shaded backyard so it’s much easier to set up outdoors. Either way is great, so do whatever is best for your circumstances.

Even though many of our summer plans have been put on hold, we can still gather at home with those closest to us and enjoy the delicious food that is in season. Making home-cooked meals and gathering as a family is the perfect way to pass the time and make some great family memories.

As I mentioned above, I like to add flowers in matching vases onto the serving table and create different heights. In this photo here you can see that I used an old wooden crate riser to set the flowers and serving utensils higher on the table.

I like to use a decorative utensil caddy for the silverware, matching serving bowls and platters. Another fun way to serve the drinks is in a decorative drink dispenser. Get creative by adding a table runner or tablecloth to match.

For this set up I used a navy blue table runner down the middle of the table and went with all-white and blue serving dishes. The yellow sunflowers added a pop of color.

The Best Blackberry Crumble Recipe

One of the things I’ve always loved about living in the Pacific Northwest (Washington and Oregon) is berry season. Every berry you can imagine grows extremely well here and there are farms aplenty to buy them at or you can pick your own. I look forward to berry season each year and have been so excited to share this family favorite recipe with you!

I’ve also joined up with some of my talented friends to share more favorite berry recipes. Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of this post for the other delicious berry recipes. These recipes are perfect for summertime entertaining or any time of the year.

In the Pacific Northwest, wild blackberries grow everywhere (they are actually an invasive species) and I’ve always picked buckets full right out of my yard.
They are easy to freeze in ziplock bags to be made into pies, cobblers, and crumbles

. Blackberries have a lot of seeds in them and can be a little tart which makes them the perfect berry to use in one of these types of recipes.

A few years ago my neighbors in Washington brought over the most delicious apple crisp and it was so good that I asked her for the recipe. I decided to try some other variations of it and this Blackberry Crumble is one of them. I think this one is my favorite. I’ve used tart cherries and blueberries too so feel free to improvise! I put instructions for the variations in the recipe below.

The Best Blackberry Crumble Recipe

This Blackberry Crumble, or some might call it a crisp, is super easy to make and so delicious. Serve it up warm with some vanilla ice cream and you'll be everyone's favorite person!

Ingredients

• 5 cups Blackberries fresh or frozen
• 1/2 cup Sugar
• 1 cup Butter (two sticks)
• 1 1/2 cup Flour
• 1 1/2 cup Oatmeal
• 1 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
• 1 tsp Salt
• 2 tsp Cinnamon
• Non-Stick Spray Pam or Coconut Oil

Instructions

• Place five cups of fresh or frozen and thawed blackberries in a mixing bowl. Add 1/2 cup of sugar and stir gently until the sugar is mixed in well.
  
• Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with non-stick spray and then dump the berries into the baking dish. Spread the blackberries out to cover the bottom of the pan. Set aside.
  
• In another mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Use a pastry cutter or your hands to mix the crumble together. You'll want the pieces of butter to be pea-sized if possible.
  
• Dump the crumble topping on top of the blackberries in the baking dish and cover the berries with the crumble evenly. It's okay if some of the berries are sticking out or if it doesn't go all the way to the edge of the pan.
  
• Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes. The juice from the berries will bubble up around the edges.
  
• Let cool for a bit and then serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
  

Notes

If you want to use blueberries, raspberries, or marionberries, the recipe is the same.

If you want to make it with tart pie cherries. omit the cinnamon and add 3 tsp of almond extract.

For apples, use green tart apples and follow the recipe as is. 

Make sure you serve warm with vanilla ice cream!

Saint Patrick’s Day Chocolate Cupcakes

Making cupcakes is so much fun and something you can include your children in that’s a fun family activity. One of the most fun holidays to make cupcakes for is Saint Patrick’s! When my kids were little, they loved helping me bake and decorate cupcakes and sugar cookies. This year I thought it would be fun to make chocolate cupcakes with Aunt Jeanies Chocolate Cake recipe and decorate them for Saint Patrick’s Day. Instead of using the ganache frosting that goes with this recipe, I used my friend Ashley’s (www.livingbeautafully.com) go-to chocolate buttercream frosting recipe. I needed a stiffer frosting that could be piped so I could top the cupcakes with the gold chocolate coins and green sprinkles.

The Decorations

I found these cute green and gold cupcake liners, green sprinkles, and gold chocolate coins at one of my favorite baking supply stores and couldn’t wait to make these cute cupcakes.

I’ve listed the cake recipe below and also here: Aunt Jeanie’s Chocolate Cake. The only thing I had to alter for the cupcakes was the baking time. Cupcakes take less time to bake. I started checking them around 12-14 minutes and just kept an eye on them until they bounded back in the middle. I overcooked the first batch so watch them closely. Oven temperatures vary so it could be a little longer in your oven.

I’ve linked the buttercream frosting (above) that I used. Aunt Jeanie’s frosting can be used to frost the cupcakes but it sets up fast so you’d have to spread it onto the cupcakes quickly. It’s more of a ganache-type frosting and doesn’t pipe well. If you want to pipe the frosting on like I’ve done here then stick to the buttercream frosting I’ve linked above.

Aunt Jeanies Chocolate Cake

The best chocolate cake with ganache frosting ever! 

Course Dessert

Ingredients

• 2 cups flour
• 2 cups sugar
• 1/2 cup butter
• 4 tbsp cocoa powder
• 2/3 cup vegetable oil
• 1 cup water
• 2 eggs
• 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1/2 cup buttermilk

Frosting

• 1 cup sugar
• 1/3 cup milk
• 5 tbsp butter
• 2 cups milk chocolate chips
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 cup Marshmallows *optional
• 1/2 cup chopped nuts *optional

Instructions

• CAKE
• In a large mixing bowl, add 2 cups sugar. Then sift the 2 cups flour and 4 tbsp cocoa powder into the bowl. Sifting the flour and cocoa is an important step so don't skip it!
  
• Then add the 1/2 cup butter on top of the sifted ingredients.
  
• Put the 1 cup water and the 2/3 cup vegetable oil in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Pour all at once over the flour, sugar, and cocoa mixture. 
  
• Stir until well combined.
  
• Add the 2 eggs, 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 1 tsp vanilla and stir until smooth.
  
• Spray the baking dish with cooking spray. Pour into a 9x13 cake pan or large cookie sheet and bake at 350º for 25-30 minutes or until the cake bounces back when touched lightly in the middle. Don't overbake.
  

Frosting

• Put the 1 cup sugar, 1/3 cup milk, and 5 tbsp butter into a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Do not boil for more than 20 seconds. Remove from heat and add the 2 cups milk chocolate chips. Stir until dissolved and then add the 1 tsp vanilla and stir again. If using the marshmallows and/or the chopped nuts, add those in and gently stir. Immediately pour onto the cake and spread. This sets ups fast so work quickly. 
• This is best if made the day ahead. Allow at least 6-8 hours to set up if possible. 

These cupcakes were simple to make and tasted so good!  Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

My husbands Grandma Fuhriman and her sister Jeanie were amazing cooks. We loved to visit them both and I always enjoyed following them around their kitchens trying to help them cook and learn some of their delicious recipes. They were the cutest things and shared a special relationship with one another.

The two of them always made this chocolate cake that everyone loved. The rumor is that Grandma made up the frosting and Jeanie made up the cake. They were always tweaking the recipe of both the cake and frosting. We have found at least 7 different versions of this recipe!

Aunt Jeanie, as we called her, lived near our Washington home and we’d see her often. She never forgot anyone’s birthday and always showed up with at least one of her chocolate cakes no matter the occasion. She had this way of making everyone feel like they were the most important person in the world and she was always happy and upbeat even though she had experienced the loss of her husband and three of her four children. Anyone who knew her had been given a chocolate cake at some point. Making this cake for someone was her way of saying that she loved you.

Grandma, who lived in Idaho passed away in 2013 and we were so sad to lose her. Aunt Jeanie lived ten minutes away from us in Washington. We had always been close to her but after losing Grandma, we loved spending time with her even more.

In the past year, Aunt Jeanie’s health had started declining. Her granddaughter, Tiffany, who is a photographer, reached out to me and we discussed getting together and making the cake with Jeanie. We knew her time was limited and we wanted to get some photos of her making the cake with me. I had been wanting to share the recipe on the blog as well as having those memories saved for her posterity. I also wanted her to share her tips on making this cake.

Tiffany and I arranged a day to make the cake with Jeanie but sadly, she was not up for it and passed away shortly thereafter. We were both so sad we had waited too long. The day before she passed away, I filmed my very first recipe video making her cake and wish I’d been able to show it to her before she passed.  Over the Christmas holiday, Tiffany and her family came over to our home and we made the cake together and photographed it. It was nice to share this experience and reminisce about this sweet lady that we all loved so much.

Aunt Jeanies Chocolate Cake

The best chocolate cake with ganache frosting ever!

These mini bundt cakes are so easy to make and don’t take a lot of time. I made these for Valentine’s Day and everyone loved them.

For the recipe, I took one Cherry Chip cake mix and followed the directions on the box (eggs, water, oil). I then added a small package of vanilla pudding and an extra 1/4 cup water to the mixing bowl and mixed for 1-2 minutes. I baked the cakes in a greased mini bundt pan, (I’ll link the pan below) baked them for 10-12 minutes and let them cool on a cooling rack.

For the glaze, I mixed 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, 4-5 Tbsps. of the Maraschino cherry juice, 1 tsp. almond extract. It should be a little runny. If you don’t have the cherry juice from the jar of maraschino cherries you can use milk or water instead and add pink food coloring if you want the frosting pink.

Put a ziplock bag in a cup and fold the edges over the cup then scoop the frosting into the ziplock bag. Snip a tiny amount off the corner of the ziplock bag and drizzle over the cakes. (if you have piping bags, you can use those too).
